About us
LUDO (means ‘play’ in Latine) is a design studio that aims to create indoor and outdoor spaces in a way that children can play, learn and engage with their environment. Researches from different fields like psychology, sociology and biology emphasize the importance of play behaviour on human development. Our environment has a great impact on how we behave and who we become. We believe that play equals learning. This is why we are passionate about designing customized, healthy and sustainable play and learning spaces, products tailored and crafted in the needs of children.
Approach
Research on many fields emphasize the value and importance of play on child development. All kinds of investments that allow children to play are important contributions not only for children themselves but adults also. It is known that creating spaces that have or enhance play opportunities affect the children’s mental development in a positive way. Injecting play, from small scaled customized playgrounds to outdoor playgrounds in schools, classrooms and halls or public spheres such as parks affects children’s development in a positive way. Hence, we mind about every place that children spend their time at, like home, school, kindergarten, and public spheres and we create spaces that are from sustainable, healthy materials and far from monotony.
Kinds of what children are playing depends on their ages and abilities, just as each group of age is different, every child is exclusive. We care about including different kinds of plays on play design.

Safety
We care about the safety of play spaces and follow the regulations about it. Turkey adopted European Union EN 1176 playground standards as Turkish Standards TS EN 1176-1. We adhere to these standards that take into account safety in all our designs without compromising the play value and also we design spaces that will encourage children to take a healthy amount of risk while they play. Every week, we visit a different playground , observe and interview with the users to create our own design guideline in addition to the safety rules provided by TSE to improve play value and safety of playgrounds.
Sustainability
Sustainability with its social, economic and environmental factors is key to our work. We work with our clients and the community collaboratively, and provide play and learning environments complying with customer and users’ needs. Our design reflects the site’s characteristics by highlighting its local distinctiveness. We use locally sourced non-toxic building materials to reduce transportation costs. We care about promoting the integration of native plant species which attracts the local fauna and supports biodiversity.
